The first winter in a new home the rough-in is still not a result

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

A new house is often tighter than a 1970 house. The radon that enters has fewer leaks to leave by. The first winter someone actually lives there — heat on, windows shut — is the period Health Canada wants in the report.

A “radon ready” leaflet means the pipe was planned. It does not mean the level is low. New homes. Rough-in. The code.

The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
