Basement windows and radon the window well is not a test

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

The window itself is not a radon source. The well outside, if it is not drained and the frame leaks, brings the soil closer to the room. Health Canada says not to place the detector near the window: drafts and sun throw off some devices, and that spot is not the centre of the bedroom.

Sealing the frame reduces an air leak. It does not fix the slab. Cracks. Poor locations.

The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
