Home inspector radon test 48 hours is a screen

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

Many pre-purchase inspections run a monitor for 48 hours, sometimes less. That is a screen for an offer. It is not the annual average in Health Canada’s guide. Open windows on visit day, a device in the mechanical room, a short duration: the number can come back too low.

Read the duration and the room on the inspector’s report. Then run the 91-day test the first winter you live there. Read a report. 4 days or 91.

The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the return and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report goes out within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation starts with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified and ships kits across Canada. See the Canada test page.
