Radon in the garage the guide does not test where nobody lives

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

You park, you leave, you come back. You do not sleep in the garage. Health Canada’s occupancy line — more than four hours — is almost never met there. A detector on the workbench describes the workbench, often higher or lower than the bedroom, because the garage door leaks.

If a bedroom or an office is finished above or beside it, and people stay there, that is the room to test. An attached garage can let gas toward that room. Leaving the garage door ajar is not the fix. Excluded spots. Upstairs.

The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
