Snow and the radon exhaust the outlet has to stay clear

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

The fan pushes the gas to an outlet that has to stay in open air, normally above the roof, away from windows and fresh-air intakes. A low outlet on the yard side ends up under the snow. The pipe blocks, the manometer changes, and some of the gas can come out near a basement window.

Clearing the outlet is winter maintenance, like a dryer vent. If the U-tube is flat after a storm, a blockage is a frequent cause before a motor failure. A stopped fan. Where the pipe runs.

The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
