Radon in Estrie 9.3% of 54 homes in the 2012 survey
Sherbrooke, Magog, Coaticook and the rest of the Eastern Townships share Appalachian soil. That soil can contain rocks that produce radon. That is why the region often appears in public-health portraits. It does not give the number for your basement.
What is measured in Sherbrooke and Magog
The detector goes in the lowest lived-in room: a bedroom, office or family room in the basement if they are actually used. A closed, heated house, from October to April, brings the measurement closer to winter exposure. The detail is in the testing season.

After the number
Under 200 Bq/m³, Health Canada does not ask for work. Above it, the correction is suction under the slab, not opening the windows for six months of the year. The path is the same as in removing radon.
The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.
Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
