A radon result above 200 Bq/m³ what happens next

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

200 Bq/m³ is Health Canada’s guideline for an annual average in a lived-in room. It is not a criminal limit, and it is not a “zero risk” level. Above it, the agency recommends steps to bring the level down, sooner if the number is very high.

Check that the test really describes the house

The lower room, the duration kept, the device left in place. A 4-day result above 200 is a signal to follow with 91 days, or to act if the deadline will not allow it. A 91-day result above 200 is a solid basis for the work.

The correction

The system pulls air from under the slab and exhausts it outside, above the roof. It is not a living-room filter. How it works and what changes the price. After the work, retest. The retest.

The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
