A basement bedroom and radon that is the room that counts
People sleep there seven or eight hours. That is more than Health Canada’s four-hour line, and it is the lowest level. The detector goes in that bedroom, 0.8 to 2 m above the floor, not in the closet and not on the window sill.
A main-floor living room can read lower while the basement bedroom is above 200. Do not declare the house from the living room. Basement apartment. Where to place it.
The 4-day test gives a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax: shipping, return and the laboratory are included, taxes extra. The PDF report is sent within 2 business days after the laboratory receives the detector.
Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation is confirmed with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified for measurement and mitigation.
