Radon in Moncton New Brunswick health region 1 tested at 19.8%

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

New Brunswick health region 1, the Moncton area in the 2012 table, was 19.8% of 106 homes above 200 Bq/m³ and 3.8% above 600. Health region 6 was 40.0%. Health region 2, the Saint John area, was 10.9%. The provincial raw result was 24.8%, the highest in the country in that table.

Those are health-region numbers from the Health Canada report, not a street in Riverview. Fredericton is a different region.

What the percentage does not measure

The survey describes homes recruited in a health region, not one address. The slab, the sump and how long the windows stay shut change the number next door. The reading that matters is the lowest lived-in room during the heating season.

If the report is over 200

Health Canada’s measurement guide says act within two years between 200 and 600 Bq/m³, and within one year above 600. Above 200. New Brunswick Saint John

The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the return and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report goes out within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation starts with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified and ships kits across Canada. See the Canada test page.
