Radon in London, Ontario 1.8% of 109 homes in the 2012 sample

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

The Middlesex-London health unit was 1.8% of 109 homes above 200 Bq/m³ in the 2009–2011 Health Canada survey, and none of that sample was above 600. Windsor-Essex was 13.8% of 195. Toronto was 2.7% of 73.

A low health-unit line is how individual basements get skipped. One hundred and nine homes do not map every street in London.

What the percentage does not measure

The survey describes homes recruited in a health region, not one address. The slab, the sump and how long the windows stay shut change the number next door. The reading that matters is the lowest lived-in room during the heating season.

If the report is over 200

Health Canada’s measurement guide says act within two years between 200 and 600 Bq/m³, and within one year above 600. Above 200. Ontario Windsor

The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the return and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report goes out within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation starts with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified and ships kits across Canada. See the Canada test page.
