Radon in Gatineau the Outaouais region was 12.9% of 62 homes

· 1 min· Gaz Radon

The Outaouais health region was 12.9% of 62 homes above 200 Bq/m³ and 4.8% above 600. The City of Ottawa health unit, across the river, was 6.2% of 64 homes, with none of that sample above 600. Both samples are short.

A house in Hull and a house in Chelsea should not share a result, and neither inherits Ottawa’s number. The French page is Outaouais.

What the percentage does not measure

The survey describes homes recruited in a health region, not one address. The slab, the sump and how long the windows stay shut change the number next door. The reading that matters is the lowest lived-in room during the heating season.

If the report is over 200

Health Canada’s measurement guide says act within two years between 200 and 600 Bq/m³, and within one year above 600. Above 200. Quebec Ottawa

The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the return and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report goes out within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.

Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation starts with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified and ships kits across Canada. See the Canada test page.
