Radon in St. Catharines Niagara was 2.0% of 100 homes
The Niagara health region was 2.0% of 100 homes above 200 Bq/m³, and that entire 2.0% was above 600: nothing landed in the band between 200 and 600. Hamilton was 5.0% of 100, with none above 600. Toronto was 2.7%.
A low percentage with a high tail is a reason to read your own report carefully, not a reason to skip the test. St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland share this regional line.
What the percentage does not measure
The survey describes homes recruited in a health region, not one address. The slab, the sump and how long the windows stay shut change the number next door. The reading that matters is the lowest lived-in room during the heating season.
If the report is over 200
Health Canada’s measurement guide says act within two years between 200 and 600 Bq/m³, and within one year above 600. Above 200. Ontario Hamilton
The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test covers the three-month minimum Health Canada asks for. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the return and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report goes out within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.
Above 200 Bq/m³, mitigation starts with a quote. Gaz Radon is C-NRPP certified and ships kits across Canada. See the Canada test page.
