Radon at work in Canada test the ground-floor rooms first
Someone who spends the day in a basement office is breathing that building, not their house. The same gas can build up there. The useful question is whether that room has been measured.
Where the detectors go
Rooms used for hours a day, on or below grade. A large floor needs more than one point. The useful period is the heating season, for a long test, not an afternoon snapshot.
Whose rule applies
Many workplaces follow provincial health and safety law. Banks, interprovincial transport, post, broadcasting, and the federal public service follow Ottawa. The duty is not identical. This page does not replace your joint health and safety committee.
The 4-day test is a first reading. The 91-day test is the length Health Canada uses to judge a full heating season. Both are $59 before tax. Shipping, the prepaid return, and the lab are included. Tax is extra. The PDF report is emailed within 2 business days after the lab receives the detector.
Above 200 Bq/m³, the fix is a fan that pulls soil gas from under the slab and exhausts it above the roof. Radon Gas is C-NRPP certified for testing and for mitigation, and ships kits across Canada. Start from the Canada test page.
